Archived Lecture: Building Baby's Brain

Date: Mar. 18, 2021
Time: 5:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

A healthy brain is assembled by reading instructions from the genome beginning at the very earliest time of life—early in the first trimester of development for humans. Dr. LaMantia will talk about what those early genetic instructions are, and how they establish the blueprint for a healthy brain. Dr. LaMantia will also indicate how building a brain can be affected by “mistakes” in the genetic instructions, and how it might be possible to correct some of the sub-optimal brain construction that results from those mistaken instructions.
