Research Assistant

Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC in Roanoke, VA, is dedicated to the promotion of health and the prevention and treatment of lifestyle-related disease. The Mishra Lab at FBRI is looking for a Research Assistant to work primarily on AHA-funded research projects related to cardiometabolic disease. The primary responsibility of this position is animal colony management, genotyping, some general laboratory operations, and provision of help for data collection for in vitro and in vivo research projects. The individual will also be responsible for operating equipment. The successful candidate should be detail oriented, keeping careful records of interactions with participants in a laboratory setting. The candidate should also be flexible and enjoy a fast-paced research environment. International candidates are eligible to apply.

Postdoctoral fellows specializing in cardiovascular physiology are particularly encouraged to apply. We are seeking highly motivated candidates with a research background in cell biology, biochemistry, mitochondria, metabolism, cell signaling, cardiovascular physiology, or a related field. Our lab employs a wide range of scientific methods, including protein biochemistry, metabolism, bioenergetics, FRET, proteomics, epigenomics, and mouse genetics, providing an excellent opportunity for multidisciplinary training.
