Michael Zeitz, Ph.D.

Dr. Michael Zeitz's research focuses on the role of cis acting RNA elements in gene regulation and their contribution to protein translation. He is specifically interested in understanding how pathological alteration of these elements influences intercellular communication in cardiac disease. He completed his Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology, and a bachelor's degree in biological sciences at State University of New York at Buffalo. 

Before joining the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute, he worked as a research associate II at Stanford University's School of Medicine, and was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford Univeristy for four years. He also worked as a project manager at IntGenome Biotechnology Inc.
