Through the lens of current weather-climate events, two decades of research, and vast experience with scientific discourse, this lecture will explore how the broader public and decision-makers consume science information. Dr. Shepherd is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He also hosts the Weather Channel's Weather Geeks and writes for Forbes.com. This former NASA scientist uses science, humor, and an "end-to-end" approach to expose challenges and opportunities associated with science engagement.
