About this Seminar

Pharmacogenomics, is an emerging area of medicine focused on understanding how genes might affect individual responses to treatment or affect medication choice or dose. This educational training will focus on the current state of the evidence in understanding the value and interpretation of pharmacogenomic (PGx) testing in the management of patients with mental illness. Evidence from the national VA Precision Medicine in Mental Health Care (PRIME Care) study demonstrates a wide range of competence among providers that likely impacts the value and use of PGx testing among Veterans. The aim of this program is to provide an informed approach for the utilization of pharmacogenomic testing, including identification of patients where testing may be of greatest value, test selection, and interpretation of results, for providers treating Veterans with mental illness.
