Cancer Research Center – D.C. Location and Facilities

The Cancer Research Center in Washington, D.C., is located on the site of the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center on the Children’s National Research and Innovation Campus in a newly renovated state of the art research building that also houses teams of researchers from the genetic medicine research center and rare disease institute of Children’s National Hospital, the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority BLUE KNIGHT biotechnology incubator, and the Johnson and Johnson’s JLABS life science and healthcare incubator.

By train: From Union Station, take the Red Line Metro toward Glenmont to the Takoma station. The campus is a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute ride-share trip from the station.

By air: From Reagan National Airport, take the Yellow Line Metro to Gallery Place, and the Red Line to Takoma Station. The campus is a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute ride-share trip from the station.

Parking: If you drive, parking is available on campus in an LED-lit, 975-space garage.

 

Where to Stay


The Virginia Tech Office of Health Sciences and Technology maintains a pair of furnished, two bedroom apartments near the research and innovation campus. The apartments, at The Vale, located at 6800 Georgia Ave N.W., are available on a first come, first served basis to students, faculty, and staff staying at least a week while engaged in university business. First priority is given to graduate students.
