Cancer Research Center – D.C. Location and Facilities
The Cancer Research Center in Washington, D.C., is on the site of the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center on the Children’s National Research & Innovation Campus in a state-of-the-art research building that also houses teams of researchers from the genetic medicine research center and rare disease institute of Children’s National Hospital.

By train: From Union Station, take the Red Line Metro toward Glenmont to the Takoma station. The campus is a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute ride-share trip from the station.
By air: From Reagan National Airport, take the Yellow Line Metro to Gallery Place, and the Red Line to Takoma Station. The campus is a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute ride-share trip from the station.
Parking: If you drive, parking is available on campus in an LED-lit, 975-space garage.
Where to Stay
The Virginia Tech Office of Health Sciences and Technology maintains a pair of furnished, two bedroom student apartments near the research and innovation campus. The apartments, at The Vale, 6800 Georgia Ave N.W., are available to Virginia Tech graduate students and affiliates rotating in labs at the Children's National Research & Innovation campus.

How close is the CNRIC from the Vale?
The Vale and the CNRIC are quite close – 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk.
Is there parking on-site?
Yes; when you pick up your key, you will be given a parking pass. The parking pass must be displayed at all times while parked on the premises.
How is the apartment furnished and what amenities does it have?
The apartment includes 946 square feet with two bedrooms and two private bathrooms. Two parking spaces are available with each apartment.
The following items are included in each apartment:
- Full size bed in each bedroom, a desk with chair, small chest of drawers, laundry basket, and a closet with hangers;
- Smart TV in the shared furnished living room (screen only, no services);
- Washer and dryer* in shared Mud room
- Microwave oven, dishwasher*, stove, refrigerator, Keurig*, toaster, dishes, cutlery, basic cookware; (Occupants will need to provide their own dishwasher and washer detergent pods and K-cups)
- Toilet paper, facial tissues, dish soap, paper towels, basic household cleaning products and supplies;
- Basic linens – pillows, sheets and towels.

The building also features a resort-style saltwater pool and cabanas, state-of-the-art fitness center, tranquil yoga studio, and social clubroom
