Computational psychiatry addresses a gap in cognitive neuroscience. The psychological understanding of mental disorders addresses clinical symptoms and can offer some relief, but scientists need more to discover the underlying causes. Computational psychiatry combines computation and data to improve the understanding, prediction, and treatment of mental illness. Numerous computational psychiatry studies involve the use of fMRI brain scanning, which are provided through the research institute's Human Neuroimaging Laboratory.
