ACQUIRE Framework diagram

What is the ACQUIRE Framework?

The ACQUIRE framework is a therapeutic model to guide therapeutic interactions when working with individuals diagnosed with neuromotor impairments. This model is meant to maximize the therapeutic process by providing a moment-by-moment structure to therapeutic interactions with recognition that all interactions must be in a constant state of evolution. The framework identifies the many distinct variables that impact therapeutic interactions and the complex and reciprocal interplay between the child (patient) and the therapist as they work toward motoric and functional outcomes. It was designed to inform and assist therapists in creating high-quality densely packed therapy activities with needed repetitions to work towards skill refinement and promote motor learning.

The ACQUIRE Framework is an evidence-informed approach to intervention and has been utilized across numerous randomized control trials and more than 25 years of clinical delivery. It was developed primarily in the context of intensive therapy processes and therapy delivery for children with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy.

What is the ACQUIRE Framework Course?

The ACQUIRE Framework course is a 2-part course composed of an online portion (2 hours) and a 4 day in person portion (28 hours) for a sum total of 30 contact hours. The course involves lecture, interactions, videotape examples, and will include multiple days of hands on clinical work that will focus on treatment of children with neuromotor impairments.  Course completion involves 12-16 remote mentorship hours across three case studies of an enrolled therapist choosing.

The ACQUIRE Framework Course is available for licensed occupational or physical therapists.

$6,000

Yes. The course currently provides CEUs through the American Occupational Therapy Association for a total of 3 CEUs, 30 contact hours.

While there are many continuing education courses avaible, one unique aspect of the ACQUIRE Framework course is the option to also become “certified in the ACQUIRE Framework.”  This includes up to 16 hours mentorship via video feedback for therapist who are integrating the framework into their practice.

C-PROGRESS: The National Pediatric Rehabilitation Resource Center

The National Pediatric Rehabilitation Resource Center, also known as C-PROGRESS, helps clinical scientists studying pediatric rehabilitation by funding pilot studies, providing mentorship, and offering training and tools to support clinical trials research. C-PROGRESS stands for the Center for Pediatric Rehabilitation: Growing Research, Education, and Sharing Science, the center’s primary objective is to “see progress” in the emerging field of pediatric rehabilitation science.
