Smokers Needed for a Brain Research Study

Smoking study at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute

Virginia Tech is conducting a brain imaging study of smokers. Contact us to see if you qualify!

You may be eligible if you are:

  • Male
  • Age 21 to 40
  • Not trying to quit smoking
  • A cigarette or E-cigarette smoker
  • Willing to abstain from smoking for a least 8 hours

What you will do: MRI brain scans, computer games, questionnaires, and/or the collection of biological assays (e.g., breath samples).

Time: 1 to 3 hours per visit. You may be asked to complete multiple sessions.

Compensation: $15/hour for tasks completed outside of the scanner; $20/hour for tasks completed inside the scanner; $50 bonus for completing multiple sessions

Eligible volunteers will also receive a free copy of their brain scans.
