Help understand how traumatic experiences impact health
The Casas Lab is conducting a study to determine how the brain processes information in individuals with symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. By looking at a person’s brain while they play computer games, we can begin to understand how traumatic experiences impact how the brain processes emotional information.
Participants may be asked to complete questionnaires about behaviors and past experiences. Eligible participants may also undergo functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scanning sessions where they will play computer games. MRI is a standard, non-invasive procedure that is FDA approved. This research study can be completed in two visits lasting 2-3 hours each.
This study will be conducted at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech Carilion located at 2 Riverside Circle, Roanoke, Virginia.
