Severe bleeding is one of the top five causes of pregnancy-related deaths in the United States. Complications during pregnancy, at child birth, and post-delivery can cause severe blood loss, and are a key reason hospitals maintain blood banks.

To help keep blood supplies strong, the Howell Lab, the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC, and the Roanoke Graduate Student Association are sponsoring a Mother’s Day Blood Drive with the American Red Cross.

When: May 6, 2022, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: 4 Riverside Circle, Room G101A-B

Registration: RedCrossBlood.org, using sponsor code Fralin

For questions or more information: Contact the Howell Lab, mindlab@vtc.vt.edu
