“We may have all come in different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

At the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His life provides encouragement for us to continue to work for social justice as we participate in this week’s series of events hosted by Virginia Tech InclusiveVT, including a keynote tonight at 7 p.m. presented by restorative justice expert Fania E. Davis, J.D., Ph.D.  His words also provide a contemporary call for equitably addressing the challenges of global health, climate and political civility, for the benefit of all.

In the spirit of Ut Prosim (That I May Serve),

Michael J. Friedlander, Ph.D.
Executive Director, Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC
Vice President for Health Sciences and Technology, Virginia Tech
Senior Dean for Research, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine
