Mother's Day Blood Drive to aid moms before, during, and after delivery
Complications during pregnancy and during and after child birth demand strong blood reserves for mothers
March 3, 2022
Severe bleeding is one of the top five causes of pregnancy-related deaths in the United States. Complications during pregnancy, at child birth, and post-delivery can cause severe blood loss, and are a key reason hospitals maintain blood banks.
To help keep blood supplies strong, the Howell Lab, the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC, and the Roanoke Graduate Student Association are sponsoring a Mother’s Day Blood Drive with the American Red Cross.
