Harald Sontheimer, a professor at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute, was recently honored with a PROSE award for his textbook, Disease of the Nervous System. The book, published by Elsevier, beat out more than 550 other titles to win the honor of “Best Textbook” in the category of biological and life sciences.

Sontheimer directs the Center for Glial Biology in Health, Disease, and Cancer at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Insitute. He also heads the proposed School of Neuroscience in the College of Science at Virginia Tech.
