About this Seminar

This talk will explore the nature of cancer across the tree of life and describe the comparative oncology pipeline at Duke University. Dr. Eward will explain the cross-species analysis of sarcoma and the resultant understanding about the role of ATRX gene loss in the biology of sarcoma. In a talk that covers a number of topics, there will also be a series of cases in human cancer patients showcasing a variety of creative technical approaches to challenges in sarcoma surgery.

Additional Details

This is a free event hosted by the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute and co-sponsored by the institute's Cancer Research Group. The Pioneers in Biomedical Research Seminar Series, which runs annually from September to May, has featured leading biomedical researchers from throughout the country since the program began in 2012. The lectures are also open to all members of the Virginia Tech community including graduate students, undergraduates, faculty, and staff, as well as the public.
