About this Seminar
Chromatin regulatory proteins are a major class of gene products for which sequence variants are associated with autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disability; however, the functional consequences of these mutations for brain development remain poorly understood. Dr. West's lab is identifying molecular mechanisms through which chromatin regulatory enzymes promote neuronal maturation. She will discuss how our studies are working to build a foundation for understanding how dysregulation of chromatin regulation in the developing brain leads to neurodevelopmental disorders.

This is a free event hosted by the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute and co-sponsored by the institute's Center for Human Neuroscience Research. The Pioneers in Biomedical Research Seminar Series, which runs annually from September to May, has featured leading biomedical researchers from throughout the country since the program began in 2012. The lectures are also open to all members of the Virginia Tech community including graduate students, undergraduates, faculty, and staff, as well as the public.
